How can we help get funding for our startup?

Tell us about yourself and your project.

We’ve already been working on our startup for a while. Is Sidkap appropriate for us?

Yes, we can fund startups like that. In fact, we especially like them. We can probably help any startup that hasn’t already raised capital from VCs.

We don’t want funding, but will you give us advice?

We can talk about it. We like to be open in our approach, and maybe we can find a way to work it out.

How much do you invest?

Usually 50-60.000€. Occasionally we invest more. The goal is usually to give you enough money to build an impressive beta and hopefully reach the breakeven point.

What does Sidkap get out of this?

Around 20-30% stock in the startup.

We don’t really need the money. Does it still make sense to apply?

We like startups that don’t need the money. In fact, the money is a only a small part of what Sidkap does.

Do we need to write a business plan?

We make funding decisions based on our application form and personal interviews. But yes, you need to think about where the money will come from, and have an idea about your expenses, time frames, goals, etc. We will help formalize the business plan.

Will you sign an non-disclosure agreement? How do I know you won’t steal my idea?

No, we won’t sign a non-disclosure agreement. No venture firm would at this stage. The informal commitment to secrecy on our application form is more than any VC would make.

Is Sidkap an incubator?

No. The defining quality of incubators seems to be that companies work out of the investor’s space. We think that’s a bad idea; it makes founders feel like employees.

Why did you choose the name “Sidkap?”

We were looking for a name that reflects our commitment with the entrepreneurs and thought that Sidecar would be good name. It showed that we are always on the side but never driving. As usual, we couldn’t find a free URL for that name, so we decided to mix it with the description of our activity and ended up with Sidkap.

Are you hiring?

We aren’t, but companies in our network may be hiring.

Are you looking for investors?

We’re not looking for investors at the moment.
